Works well for such a tiny recorder! Like that it is magnetic!

Truly the best thing I could ever ask for. I am SO glad I found this. Recording is crystal clear, the memory holds a TON. and battery life seems really good so far, but as a plus, I emailed the company to ask if you can hook it up to a power bank for longer recording and they instructed me that I could. This thing is heaven sent. On a side note.... I'm not sure that it supports encryption. Either that, or I did it wrong. But I probably should have done a little more research before trying. Anyway, would highly highly recommend.

The knight mini recorder and mp3 is a great device. I was surprised at how well the audio quality was, and it's default settings efficiency. To supplement that, I had amazing customer service from the team that basically answered my calls/ questions later than business hours. I cant speak highly enough of the experience. Thanks again,

This product works perfect from the Magnet to the distance it reaches a conversation taking place. I sit in the back of the room when I play the recording it's like I was in the front. The only set back is that any voice the recorder turns so music, side conversations could distort the professors lecture that's it. I would definitely recommend this.

I have become sadly accustomed to receiving lightweight, plastic products disguised in product photos as metal, so this was a welcome change. This little voice recorder is in an aluminum case that has a very solid feel and considerable heft to it.It arrives in a classy looking retail box rugged enough for long-term reuse as product storage. I has a couple too many accessories for my liking, including low-end earbuds and a USB dongle (with volume up/down and play/pause buttons) to plug them into. In addition, there is also a manual and a USB-A to Micro USB cable for charging and data syncing. While the box is suitable for product storage, it would have been nice to receive some kind of drawstring cloth bag to keep everything together.I see this as being simple, single-purpose device: A discreet voice recorder with a built-in magnet for attaching to ferrous metals. I don't need it to play music or files it has recorded -- I have computers, a tablet, and a smartphone, all of which perform measurably and audibly better in that role.In addition to the well-written, color, 24 page, English-language manual, there are documentation files on the device itself. It identifies itself to the computer as a USB mass storage device, after which the documentation files are visible. In addition, any recordings are then accessible for copying and/or in situ playback by your computer. The sound quality of the recordings is quite acceptable. You're not likely to use it to record demo tracks for your band, but it produces clear, intelligible, voice recordings -- dependent on the device's placement relative to the person(s) speaking, of course. The magnet is fine, but I wouldn't plan on using it to secure the recorder to a metal surface in a vehicle. It's more suitable for attaching to stationery objects (desktop computer, table frame, filing cabinet, refrigerator, etc.).I'm not going to dispense legal advice or warnings beyond saying that certain situations should be handled by professionals who can testify as objective, third-party, professionals in a court of law. You need to determine whether yours is one of those situations.

After about a month, the recorder has some kind of glitch that makes it very difficult to download the file. We've tried attaching different, better quality, cords but the problem is in the device. You have to find just the right position and hold perfectly still and download as fast as possible. Very annoying. Warranty is up, too.Prior to that, it was an ok recorder. A lot of the phrases are truncated, so some sentences are hard to understand.

Worked for a week now device is stuck in playback mode with no audio on the device Tried resetting but still starts in playback mode even when device doesn't have audio files recorded

I liked the product from the start. Easy to use. I had a technical question on a Friday night, and the owner called me on Saturday morning. Highly recommend this product for just about any recording need.

I usually use my smartphone to record messages at church and at meetings. This usually takes up a lot of space on my phone. Thank God I ordered this mini recorder. Not only does it have way more storage than my phone for this purpose, but it can record a very long time without pausing. It's very discreet and is simple to use (and transfer your files later). I love this option so much better and I'm so glad I ordered this recorder.
Kateri
The sound is clear, very long battery life, and easy to use.

So I have been looking for a recorder that I can easily use to record my WWII father-in-laws old stories. Every time we visit him I am like - I need to record him! Having a big old camera or phone in his face really is not what I wanted to do. I wanted to just capture his stories in a nonchalant way. This device has allowed me to just have conversations with dad. It has allowed other family members to get more stories from dad too. Dad knows he is being recorded and with this device it doesn't bother him. I would highly recommend this device. I find it easy to manage with my laptop. I can pick and choose and save the recordings I need easily. This is good device that records high quality sound..

I normally don't write reviews, but I bought this device for recording purposes and it does amazing. It picks up everything I need to hear and it sounds great. I had to call. Customer service left a message, Jim called me back the next day he went above, and beyond to help me figure out how to delete the messages from a laptop and he even sent me a email the next day making sure everything was still OK for this device being great and the customer service that we don't have nowadays I will always buy products from this company

This recorder is awesome. Has a magnet on its side which makes it so versatile to use. I've used it numerous times and have caught the person going through my things in my room when I leave the house. Of course they denied it, but I have them on tape talking to themselves while doing it. I've tried hidden cameras, not so hidden cameras and nothing. Except one on the floor damaged...no images. So, I tried this recorder and wish I'd used it a long time ago. The ear buds and sound are really good quality as is the recorder. The recorder is made to where its pretty discreet out in the open, impossible to find hidden! Love it.

I ordered this for my son to record lectures in classes that he is doing poorly in. It is discreet and easy to use, and he is able to go back and listen to class lectures which help him when studying for tests. The sound quality is pretty good, it gets the job done and has been very useful for him.

The KNIGHT 64GB (800 hour) Mini Magnetic Voice Activated Recorder has proven itself a very useful tool for me. It's kind of a pocket sized personal assistant that I can take with me anywhere to record notes and ideas as they come to me. It's also helpful in brain storming sessions where numerous thoughts and ideas raised can being lost to personal memory. I can sit at my computer to listen, take notes and expand on ideas at my leisure. It's a very small device that I prefer to carry in a chest pocket so it does not get lost and I can have it with me at all times. The magnetic feature is nice but not useful for my purposes as there's no metallic surface to place it in my vehicle which is where I tend to use it the most. It's especially nice to simply speak a notation or idea while driving without having to pull off and write it down which is rarely convenient. I don't have to even worry about having writing materials with this and it's instant rather than stumbling through my phone to make a recorded note. It has an amazing amount of onboard memory, charges quickly and holds a charge for days. It's not overly complicated to transfer recorded material to the computer if I need to. Everything needed to fully use this device is in the box you receive it in and can all fit in a chest pocket. The KNIGHT 64GB (800 hour) Magnetic Voice Activated Recorder is an extremely helpful device in my opinion and a great value at its' cost!

This is a tiny voice/sound recorder which can be used to enhance the security of your environment. The device is small with readily accessible controls and multifunction indicator sled. The battery has a good life and sound activation supports low battery usage.I attached magnetically to surfaces.Full access to recorded material is provided through the USB connection to your computer.

This is very easy to use. Great support, very informative. Will definitely buy again.

it is small enough that would fit in a lot of places with magnetic power! the voice quality is good too!

Mic is relatively small, and it attaches to metal surfaces with a pretty strong magnet. The mic is pretty sensitive and voice activation works well. I tried in different scenarios. When 2-3 feet from me, my voice was recorded with remarkable clarity. When inside a closed purse, about 6 feet behind me, the mic was also activated and my speech was understandable, though the recording had less volume and fidelity (to be expected). The .wav file format is not readable by the default Windows 11 media player. I had to use other media players to be able to replay the recordings. Knight has a list of suggested media players.

This is an excellent MP3 player & recorder . The BEST one that I came across. This company is top knotch & very professional. They always took my phone calls or responded by email. Thank you.

Okay so this thing is like about the size of a quarter, can pick up audio from a FAIR distance and has perfect sound quality recording. I'm like WOW. Definitely 5/5

This recorder is awesome. I can't believe how long the recording time is. Battery lasts a long time as well. Sound quality is great. That said, understand you need to play back recording/s using included earbuds. It does not have its own external speaker. Works so much better than old school micro-cassette recorders. And is certainly a good option vs digital recorders. Love the small size, as noted in pics.

This little metal puck is great for capturing audio. And with 64GB of internal RAM, you'll most likely never run out of recording space.I would have liked if it had a slot for a removable micro SD card but instead you connect the recorder to your laptop, desktop, iPad, etc., to download the audio via the supplied USB cable. As it's voice activated, the battery life should last quite a long while. You can literally place this recorder anywhere to conceal it or being that's it's magnetic, you can attach it to any metal surface. The supplied ear buds are a nice addition as it allows you to monitor your recordings while out in the field. You can also use this for recording lectures and seminars or, if you're like me, use it for recording ambient sounds from the city and wilderness to create some interesting sounding stuff! The audio is crystal clear and easy to export to any audio editor or program.

Advertised as: KNIGHT 64GB (800 hour) Magnetic Voice Activated + Mini Voice Recorder, MP3 PlayerFirst Impression: It looks like a small miniature hockey puck. Can it really produce quality sound?Function: This is a great recorder! The ad for this device hints at all the nefarious uses for this recorder but my intent was something entirely different. When interviewing people, especially older people, some become uncomfortable and uneasy being mic'd up, followed by testing the output and these distractions can make the interview unnatural. Not so with this device. Simply turn it on, place it on a table nearby and conversations flow easily and naturally without anyone even paying attention to the device. And the results? Amazingly good! Voices are clear and understandable and you have created an audio file of exactly what was said. Of course, this is no substitute for video quality recordings and if that is your intent, use appropriate mics. But, if your goal is to record your parents' or grandparents memories while perusing a family photo album or record your elderly neighbor or interview your kids or the audio of some event without any hassle, this is the perfect device. When recording in an open room, voices were clear even though participants were 8-10' from the mic. As it will pick up any extraneous noises as well, don't use it in a noisy environment. The mic has a magnetic base and so for an additional test, I attached to my sweatshirt using a second magnet beneath and went for a walk with my neighbor. Walking over a mile outside, the resulting recording quality was very good. The person recorded walked next to me and even with occasional extraneous outdoor noises, conversations were very intelligible. To view audio files, plug the the supplied micro-USB to USB cable into the recorder. Keep the recorder turned off and plug it into your computer. All the files are there and you can transfer or erase them. Additional setting are available and outlined in the detailed owner's manual.Bottom Line: Great audio recorder, perfect for informal interviews. Be aware of extraneous nearby noises. Comes with earbuds, playback cord and USB cable. Highly recommend!

I love this little gadget. It really does record conversation. I love the magnetic quality. You can just pop it up on any metal and most people wouldn't even notice it. Even if is seen it isn't recognizable as a recording device. You plug this into the computer via a USB connection and the computer recognizes it like it would any drive. The files are easy to copy and open as any audio file. You can also listen with headphones directly connected to the device. This has been handy in office meetings so I can later review what was discussed.

This recorder is nice and convenient for the size. I watched the instructional video which is very helpful in learning how to use the recorder. I recorded a little bit of the video to test the recorder. And it works great I did not have a laptop with me so I plugged in the cord that fits into the port and then there is a hole at the end of that that you put your earbuds into. I am going to love using this recorder. I make my self notes to remember things, but sometimes I forget my notes. So this recorder will conveniently fit in my purse, and when I need to make a note, or if I think of something that I want to remember, I can just put it on this recorder. It is a great item for a great value. I will get a lot of use from this and it will help me a lot in remembering things.

This voice recorder is really well made. The small round voice recorder feels heavy and the metal is very smooth. The greatest feature on this voice recorder is that it is meant to look very subtle. With the magnetic feature, this allows so much versatility. For practical use, you can use this as a voice recorder to record notes and lectures. For safety use, you can use this to place in an inconspicuous place and record to protect yourself. This does not connect to your phone or WiFi, but instead, is activated by just turning it on. It can record up to 800 hours, continuously. Alternatively, you can set this to be voice activated only. These settings can be changed by connecting the unit to your PC. There are instructions for both PC and MAC. To listen to a recording, you can connect his to a PC or connect the headset adapter and listen directly on the device. To add some versatility, you can load music on the recorder and listen to it through the included headphones. Probably not the best quality, but at least it gives you another use for the device. The sound recording quality is good when up close. But from farther away, you will need to turn up the volume to hear better. Overall, really neat recording device!

I'm amazed at the sound quality of this tiny little recorder! I've spent a good deal of time over many years recording interviews for foreign language fluency evaluations, and wish I'd had this all along as a backup system for microphones and mini-cassette recorders. The clarity is great, it picks up voices in the room perfectly, and it's totally unobtrusive. Earbuds and an adapter are included, and the adapter has some capabilities for skipping and for fast forward and rewind, but the files are far more easily accessed when uploaded to a computer. I like the cataloguing of files by date, hour, minute, and second, and the memory capacity is amazing: one could record for days on end without reaching its limits. This device is a cinch to set up: connect it to the computer via mini-USB, navigate to the drive, use the built-in program to set the time (which the device uses in titling its recordings), and choose between formats. I set mine to record .mp3 files rather than wave recordings, simply my own preference. Scanning a QR code in the manual brings you to a brief "how-to" video, though it's very straightforward.I carried the recorder in my shirt pocket for a few hours to test it out and could hear every word of an evening news broadcast as well as my conversations. I took it to a grandchild's elementary school strings concert and found that it picked up both the introductions and the music -- strictly monaural, of course, but with no effort at all. I'll reduce the .mp3 length a bit with Audacity, also easy, and will send it to family members. This will be ideal to record conversations with elderly family members, their reminiscences of other times, and with this little device I could do that anywhere -- traveling, walking, working, indoors or out -- without setting up recording equipment, which always leads to a loss of spontaneity.A great little voice recorder, and for about the I used to pay for a good small microphone.

First, the ONLY negative I can think of: the earbuds that came with this device only work intermittently. Any slight movement of the wire makes them cut out. Luckily, I have a few decent quality earphones so this isn't that big a deal. But I gave it four stars instead of 5. After all, the user's main interface with an audio recorder is the gadget that lets them hear the recordings. As for the positives: where to begin? This little gadget is incredible! Not surprisingly - it doesn't record studio quality .wav (or .mp3) files, but the sound recordings it does make are of a surprisingly high quality and the storage capacity is HUGE. The integrated microphone is very sensitive - I switched the device on and tucked it inside a drawer in our dining room hutch, closed the drawer completely and it recorded conversations from 20 feet away. Of course the sound was a bit muffled, but it was good enough to know what was being said.Mind you, I didn't order this to spy on people but it clearly could do that. It's very small, has no lights on while it's recording, and it even has a reasonably powerful magnet built in so you can stick it to steel furniture and let it do its thing without worrying it will fall off. What I ordered this for was two things:- I wanted an ultra-portable voice recorder to use while I'm on the road with my job in advertising sales, and- I wanted a small, unobtrusive recorder for when I'm playing guitar or piano and I stumble across a riff that I really like. Quick, before I forget it - I can just switch this little puck on and record it to preserve the ditty indefinitely. The instructions might seem a bit daunting at first but they're really not. Turn the device on to record and it automatically creates a new file which (once you've set it up with your laptop) is accurately time and date stamped and added to any previous files you've recorded. Play back controls via the switches on the earphone dongle that plugs directly into the device are OK, you have volume up and down, fast forward, rewind, skip to next file, etc. My take-away, however, is that it's much easier to hook the gadget up to my (Windows) laptop, let the plug-and-play feature open up the file folder on the device, and select the files I want to hear using the controls available in my selected media player app. I can also then copy files to my hard drive, other media, or just leave them on the device there's certainly plenty of storage available.Importantly, you can also delete the files using your laptop. I might be mistaken but I believe this is the only way to delete files.. the instructions seem only to mention the potential need to delete files should you fill up the entire 64GB with recordings. They do not explain how to do it. But as I guessed, it's a simple matter when you're using your PC - just right click and delete. The potential uses for this are wide-ranging. It's so small you van easily tuck it in your pocket for use in so many situations¦ when you're out walking and hear an unidentified bird singing, for example: or if you're a student recording a lecture¦ Of course you can also use it to help in those, ‚¬“I never said that arguments that arise from time to time.

As a non chalant recording device, the 64GB Knight is surprisingly good. It's magnetic so it can be placed anywhere metal is available and when it records, the sound is clear and crisp. More so than most voicemails on your phone, actually. The interface is very simple and works smoothly, a simple on and off switch with light indicator provide the only marking on the whole device, and you can play the audio thru your computer by simply plugging it in or with the earbuds that come packaged with it,(reminiscent of old apple earbuds),either way the fidelity and ease of use are pleasing. And at 64 GB, it has the capacity to record alot of material.. Whether your recording for class notes, a work presentation or perhaps even listening in for some kind of valuable information, this nails every facet of what a device of this kind should.
Tomboy at heart
I love that it has the magnetic hold, you can 'tack' it onto anything metal and hear what others are saying, so is it snooping or spying? why yes it is, but you will learn a lot, lol, then again, just do what they suggest and take it to your college classes and re-hear what a professor has taught, or let your friend record it and you don't even attend the class. This has so many possibilities if you use your imagination. I think this is way better than the tiny micro tape recorders, this looks like something you would use as a fridge magnet anyways.

Perfect way to record those special moments or protect yourself with audio recording. This is so small it will be easily over looked or not seen. Picks up voices well and plays back clearly. Recommend

Very slim, great at recording. Awesome to play back interviews at work. I live in a two-party consent state so no secret recording is allowed here, but if you live somewhere that it is, this would be a very discrete device to collect conversations on.

You ever feel the prickly things on the back of your neck? And the tiny hairs on your arm, you know, when they stand up? Those feelings mean something's up and you might just need one of these voice activated recorders to discoverer the truth and create some accountability in your life. Worried how those orderlies are treating great grandma? How about that shady but necessary business partner scheming behind your back? This does 800 hours of crystal clear recording. That's enough to record the entire unabridged reading of The Count of Monte Cristo 17.6 times over. This thing just works. Plain and simple.
Mattermind
I love technology that is purpose-driven. I am drawn by nature to intelligent design. So I couldn't resist the opportunity to review this recorder. It's unlike anything I've ever used before.
As a college student, journalist intern and professional screenwriter, I often find myself in need of taking mission-critical notes. While I understand this isn't a primary function of devices like these, that's how it will mostly be used by me. These are the conditions I'm most familiar with.
Let's run down a few of the immediate benefits:
1) It's discrete. Whether you're recording a lecture or a candid interview, what you never want is to make the subject awkward. I love that you can place this on (or under) a desk/podium and the speaker won't even know that it's there (or what it's doing). It looks nothing like a traditional device. The MAGNET is pure genius. It attaches to metal with a robust and secure hold.
2) Audio quality is extraordinary. I had it attached to my refrigerator when the SO came home and she didn't know I was recording. When I replayed our conversation for her I was floored by the quality. As stated, I have used dozens of these devices and this delivers the greatest clarity of any -- even from across the room. In proximity, the results were off the chart. I could hear every nuance with zero ambiguity.
3) Its capacity is staggering. You might even say it's overkill but I don't want to discourage creators from providing such abundance. 64 gig is massive. Combined with the lithium battery and voice activation, you can tuck this away and not worry about space or power for up to three days. You won't have to delete saved recordings for months.
As for accessing those recordings, here is where I wonder if there might be easier, more intuitive ways. I spoke with the design team about the absence of Bluetooth or an app and totally understand why they were left out. Simplicity and user-friendliness drove the decisions.
There are two main ways to access the recordings: 1) as files on what your computer will recognize as an external device when you plug it in. Just like an iPod (remember those? Good times) or a flash drive, the recorder appears as a connected USB device. You merely click on a time-stamped WAV or MP3 file to listen through your usual media app such as Windows Media or iTunes.
If you prefer playback without your computer, a dongle is provided for portable access. When connected, the recorder automatically switches to playback mode and you can scroll through your recordings.
With dashcams and lecture/interviews, the biggest issue is always finding the specific instances you need. I find myself wanting to recall a moment in time -- the crash, the near-collision, the confession -- and that's where things can get a little awkward.
Like for many people, my phone has become my primary social connection while my laptop is now a working tool I take out for assigned tasks. The recorder functions best while connected to a computer. There you can drag and drop, rename, create new folders just like with an external hard drive or flash drive. It was never intended to be a standalone. That's important to keep in mind.
This recorder is unique. Like the Navy Seals, it serves a dedicated purpose. It's mission-driven and purpose-built. It offers discretion, huge capacity, incredible sound and fantastic build quality. Apple would envy the design and superior materials.
When you know why you're buying this, you will be thrilled with what you're getting at this . Plus, it's an American product with real, honest-to-goodness customer service. They care about their products. And they'll double the warranty with simple registration.
It's high tech with old-fashioned values. I'm a huge fan of both!

Love this mini voice recorder. Since it's magnetic, you just slap it wherever there's metal and turn it on and then you record what you need to. My recordings were pretty clear too even when the talking was a good 8-10 feet away. The only thing I had a question about was listening to recordings, but I just called knight security and talked to a guy named Jim who was very helpful.
Luz
Recorded just what I needed it to. I have mixed feelings about it, but thank you Knight Security for making this voice activated recorder because now I know it's time to move on.
K
Make you feel like so bad that it so good/ easy to use. It voice activated to it doesn't waste batteries. Sound quality was decent for where I put it, but over all it quite the find because it's just so easy to setup and use.

I had been looking for something to use to catch people talking about a legal matter. This item fit the bill. It is small and easy to hide. I was able to place it in an area where they won't be able to tell it was there, but also what it was. The sound was clear and load. It made it easy to make out who was speaking.I recommend this to anyone who might need something like this.

This is a really easy to use device, and very small and minimalistic. I personally am not a fan of recording devices, as in most scenarios if I'm poking around to hear random things, I may hear things I don't want to. As such, I would advise simply using this in scenarios that you know will be fine. The quality is quite good, and it does stick to metal which is good if you want to walk away from it. Personally, I just use it to record lectures that don't already have the lectures recorded. Should you probably ask first...yes. But if it's not shared or going to be used maliciously, this can be handy to just get those recordings in. It's discrete, so even if you leave the classroom, it's not obvious what you've set up. Additionally, it seems to have pretty good range, but the lecture halls are designed to be acoustic so I'm not sure of the exact range in everyday use. From there, charging it or plugging in to a computer to listen to the recordings is quite simple.
Sarah
Works as expected. Nice when I needed it. Not sure I'll need it very much in the future but this was a lifesaver for my family.

This little recorder is super versatile. Want to live out your Veronica Mars/spy fantasies? Maybe you're a 1980s businessman who dictates things for your secretary to write down for you. Perhaps you are a college student who hasn't quite figured out what information in a lecture is important and doesn't want to miss anything. This would be perfect for any of these purposes. It is small and discrete and can be connected to a computer or listened to through included headphones. The headphones aren't the most comfortable, so this wouldn't be my preferred method, since I like to see what I'm listening to and scrub through the audio. The actual recording quality was a surprise for me. To test it, I stuck it in my pocket and turned it on during choir practice. I thought it was likely to mostly pick up my voice and little else, since I sit at the far end of the group. I was wrong. Despite being in my pants pocket on the edge of the choir loft, I could hear all the parts clearly and my voice was not noticeably louder than those 20 feet away.My main purpose for this will likely be recording myself reading books (for both my 4 year old to listen to and possibly to contribute to sites like LibriVox) and I believe this will do nicely for that purpose. The one downside is that it will likely require some editing software, since there isn't a pause option and starting a new recording seems to require turning it off then on again. To cut out parts you don't need or split a recording into multiple tracks, addition software will be needed. All told, however, I am surprised by just how much I love this little device. I wish I had it when I was in college to record lectures and can see myself using it to record brainstorms for story ideas now that I have graduated. Definitely recommend.

I was surprised with how crystal clear this records voices, and it comes with a headset that has controls allowing you to playback the sound clips straight from the device. My first test I stuck this to my fridge and walked from my kitchen, into my living room and down my hallway. I could hear and understand my voice in the playback in each area, amazing! I'll be using this to take verbal notes and to record our HOA meetings because we have a very shady HOA president that lies and gaslights our other board members constantly. I'm so glad I found this product, very handy for multiple uses.

This review is for the KNIGHT 64GB (800 hour) Magnetic Voice Activated Recorder.I did some testing with this and I am impressed, even though there is room for improvement. The recorder is very small, like a couple of half dollars stacked up. It is magnetic by itself, there isn't a magnet you need to attach to it. The box includes a charging cable, an audio adapter, some headphones, and the device.I put this under my own desk and had it record my own conversations for a couple hours. While it was set to be voice activated, any sort of sound would keep it on, even typing or moving around. That being said, during the recording, I recognized a number of times where it cut off the last part of a word. Still understandable, and it didn't miss a whole phrase or anything, just a syllable or so.The slider on the side was difficult to move and recognize when it was in the right position. I guess that's good that it won't get activated or deactivated accidentally, but it was kind of annoying to move.Overall I like it, but I took a star off for the switch issues and the syllable dropping.

I especially liked the instructional video it came with, which helped me know exactly how to use this voice activated recorder. The sound quality is pretty good too. Can't complain. It does just what it said it would do for me.
