This gas detector is amazing, I tested it several times and it works perfect, plus it looks great in my kitchen with the slick design and the most important I have my most valuable things safe: my family and my home! very fair price for a high tech item!! love this product!

I have other detectors, one that seems to go off and I can't figure out what's going on or if its even working or not. Not with this detector, it is easy to plug in, read, and I have less worry. Grateful for this product and the helpful video that describes it and leads you through everything.

This product is great! Will buy it again!

It works well
Abelardo Letrero
Like it, very sensitive on natural gas leak. I tested it. Thanks
Brian Bower
Easy to install, easy to understand alarms, detects a wide range of dangerous gases, the perfect addition to your home!

This was easy to install and gives me peace of mind

The item is nice and it is super nice that it can be plugged into a wall outlet, however, without having the alternative to be operated by batteries in case the power goes off, it completely disqualifies it. Sorry, but I'm returning it.

I had a new Gas furnace installed. I knew a smelled a leak. I had the company that installed it back to check, they didn't find it. The local building inspector came to sign off on their work and immediately smelled it. This gauge never registered ANYTHING. POS.. not recommended

Doesn't work. We had a gas leak last night (3 months after purchasing this device) and woke up with gas in the home. One of my kids left the gas on at the stove. The monitor showed numbers on the display and was only a few feet away from the stove. What's worse, the monitor gave us a false sense of protection.
Susan Martin
Nice looking unit, easy to install, easy instructions. The only issue I had was that when I installed it 12" from the ceiling and level, when I looked up at it, I could not read the numbers, only all the background numbers 88888. I ended up moving it down and hanging it sideways so now I can read it properly. I purchased one for my parents an liked it, so purchased one for myself.
Spencer Currie
Works well but very limited to no feature set means this shines bright blue light all the time. No dimming or off feature for this.
Thomas Rasmussen
I bought a unit for my utility room. It was easy to set up and is quite attractive. Very good instructions. Without actually creating a natural gas leak, I can't verify that the unit actually works. However, I had enough confidence in the unit to buy another one for my daughter's house.

Tried buying a cheaper propane detector (this one) rather than the stock RV one (they are $90) and this would have been great if it worked. Only worked for a short time before it completely died and it's just past the time I can return it. Have only had it a short while. Would not recommend

Instructions and process easy to understand
walter lukaszewski
put one in the garage

My grand kids often leave the stove barely on or not completely off letting the gas leak out slowly. I was always afraid this would happen during the night after their midnight hunger binges. This monitor is very sensitive and brings peace of mind that we won't all die in the middle of the night

Seems to work great

Clear directions - multiple ways to mount - super easy to install

DOA. I was also surprised it doesn't have a battery.

First, is super easy to install, mostly is plug and play system. The gas indicator display in nice blue screen. Have it tested and the alarm sound loud, as loud as the regular smoke detector with the level of gas concentration. Very easy to use, just double sided tape provided on mounting plate and ready to go. Like it so far, first day of use and tested, seems impressive and work very well.
Rosie Gold
Looks like it will work. Have not had a leak yet but hopeful that this will help. I heard stories about gas leaks and this is my proactive way to protect my family home. Easy set-up.

Work perfectly. Tested with propane leak . Working beautifuly
Cary
Easy to install
Javier Aguirre
Did a little test run in the kitchen before installing it in the attic. It beeped when I let out a little bit of natural gas so I feel pretty good about it. The only bad thing is that it's pretty hard to read if you install it close to the ceiling and have to look up.

Devon
Easy to use & reliable

Looks good and it's doing its job.
Cory Hulbert
Great and easy to install, tested it out and it seems to function fine!
SueM
Very easy to install and use. Tested at the stovetop, alarm is distinctive. Won't have to depend on my poor sense of smell again. Highly recommend.
Carol Alexander
I really liked how easy it is to use and read. The clean design worked well in my space.

Exactly what I was looking for to detect a potential propane leak in the future
Pamela E. Ardinger

More for update after I use the device

Not working at all.
I even tried to put it next to my leaking gas line, but the alarm still didn't work.

I kept my sense of smell after covid and started getting paranoid about not being able to smell gas leaks this gives me peace of mind

Helps me feel safe, easy install and all test work.

You won't regret getting this item. You'll need it for safety measures.
Mr. D
The alarm is not loud enough to wake anyone sleeping and that's what I bought it for.
Alan
Works well but it must be mounted by the floor so the screen is impossible to read standing up. Should be an LED screen. I'm sure if their were a propane leak the siren would alert us.
Seany2k
Expected to with battery but requires power connection. Tried it and it didn't work with city gas line.
EG
You want monitors like this to be in view most of the time. Therefore, you want it to look good. This Propane/Gas monitor easily meets that requirement and it's reassuring to track possible gas leaks.
Rusty Shackleford
Pretty much, the review title is my review. The unit looks nice, and it works. However, the display has a very limited viewing angle, Otherwise, it's hard or impossible to read. From a certain angle, you can see provisions for other functions that the unit doesn't have.
LizardLvr
I plugged this into the laundry room outlet where my water heater is located. The backlight is bright and the numbers are super easy to read. It sits quietly and does the intended job. If you are worried about gas leaks, this device is the simplest way that I can think of to obtaining peace of mind.
RAD18 AU
easy to setup can read numbers easy.

I have a gas fireplace and water heater. I have smelled gas several times in different homes I have lived in. This sensor brings a lot of peace of mind and I like being able to see the concentration of natural gas in my home (under normal operation it reads 0%).
I have both the original Gas Knight, and this v2.0 which has a numeric display of gas concentration. I prefer the look of the v2.0 and also like the long cord it comes with, but the sensor only has a 3 year sensor lifespan whereas the original has a 5 year sensor lifespan. The v1.0 shouts "warming up" for a few minutes when you first plug it in (or the power goes out and comes back), whereas the v2.0 just displays a countdown on the screen to let you know when it is ready.
I had one alarm go bad and Jim from customer service quickly replaced it. Wonderful service!
Felipe magulas
Works good
Thanks
Yvette M.
I got this to replace one I was already had. My old one kept alarming where ever I plugged it in at my house. The Gasknight was easy to install and lights up very nicely with a blue background. The numbers are large and easy to read even from far away. It can also be seen at night. The setup was easy. Hopefully it will last longer than my last one did.

I am reviewing this GasKnight 2.0 after using the 1.0 for about a year, and upgrading to this unit when I needed a second detector in another room. This is a pretty nice looking gas alarm, and it does have a very modern design. It is larger than the 1.0, and includes a LED readout that was not present before. I find this to be a more permanent solution, as it is designed to be wall mounted. Some units are only designed to be plugged directly in, so it is more versatile that way.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone who needs a nice modern looking gas alarm. It is especially useful for situations where the electrical outlet might not be near the gas source.
Ddt
Nice one. Works great.
The downside is that it says it lasts about 3 years. Also the other downside is that the light is always on, however it does dim. It is noce to aleays have light to locate and read easily but this one is installed on my bedroom. Why? My goal is to have my basament, kitchen(gas oven), laundry (gas dryer) with at least one smoke/co2/gas detector.
Snow Dog Dad
About two years ago, the tubing that is supposed to dissipate and remove natural gas that is not burnt by the furnace malfunctioned. Fortunately, she recognized the smell added to natural gas pretty quickly and called the furnace company. But, it could have been a disaster if she had not.
My gas furnace and gas water heaters are in a small space in the unimproved part of my basement. Not an area I frequent every day. For some piece of mind, I added this device to that small area so that it could detect any potential leaks or unused natural gas. I placed it about 4 feet from my furnace and hot water heaters and put it higher on the wall because natural gas is lighter than air and tends to rise. So you want the gas detector 6 or 7 feet above the floor.
It has a 6' USB power cord which I found insufficient since I did not have a power outlet nearby. But that is a small issue. If you are planning your placement of this, make sure there is a power outlet within 5 or 6' of where you want to put it or make sure you have an extension cord available of the proper length.
It is pretty easy to mount on a wall. It has a mounting plate that twists off. So you can mount the plate and then add the gas detector to the mounting plate.
Like your smoke alarms, you should test this once every 6 months to make sure it is working properly. There is a convenient test button on the lower right side.
I hope I never hear a real alarm from this gas detector, but it gives me a bit of extra piece of mind knowing that it is there and will alert me if there is a natural gas leak.
LegoDad
This is one of those things that you have absolutely no way to know if it really works or not until something happens.
There is no price on the product page so I have no idea if this will be any kind of a value or not. Hopefully it's priced competitively.
I do like the fact that it's easy to mount anywhere, drilling or with a sticky, and the USB cable gives me plenty of options for where to place it. MUCH easier to run a very flexible USB extension cable to this if it's not near an outlet than it is a normal extension cord.
Easy to read, and hopefully it's working. But I just hope I never actually hear it go off...

I have the previous generation of this alarm. This new one offers more flexibility in where you can locate it. It is attractive and works well.
Steve Maris
The GasKnight 2.0 is an easy-to-install way to achieve a greater peace of mind in homes with natural gas or propane appliances and heating systems. Mounts easily to wall surfaces and plugs into a standard outlet. Will monitor for gas leaks and sound an alarm if gas is detected. I placed our unit in the basement mechanical room of our home where we have a propane furnace and water heater. This is a part of a house where we might not immediately smell a gas leak, so having the GasKnight monitoring that room for us provides us extra security.

I have a gas stove - this Gas detector is a big improvement. I'm back in my comfort zone. It's easy to install and read
BJ
This is my second GasKnight. They are simple to install and start up. The digital display is well done and it's an attention getter when people are visiting. I don't really know how well it performs because, luckily, we haven't had a gas leak since I installed it.
Kayla E.
Seems to be good so far!
stvnh71
Did not work. Placed it by my gas stove in the house and turned on gas without igniting. I could smell the gas but this device registered 0. Same experiment on my bbq with same results. Useless...
Kathryn
Works great would recommend this

The unit came as described and was a breeze to install I put it on the wall between the water heater and furnace. Its round shape and digital display ties in with the nest products in the household. It gives us peace of mind that if there's a gas leak we'll be notified. That is priceless!
mparsnips24
Easy to use and set up. I haven't had any gas leaks yet so hopefully I never have to actually see it alert ðŸ˜
Pleased so far

I own the prior generation of this product, and this is a great improvement. This version has a detachable cord, which provides more options for installation than the version that plugged directly into an outlet. I have propane, which means mounting the detector low and will be looking for a shorter cord. Homes with natural gas will benefit the most from being able to plug into a low outlet and mount the detector at a suitable height. Unlike the first generation, this detector displays numbers indicating the gas concentration and has a Nest-thermostat-like design. It also eliminates the really irritating warm-up routine of the first generation, which drove the dog crazy every time the detector lost power. Be aware that the detector should be replaced after three years. I wish that the instructions provided more information on testing the detector by exposing it to gas.

This product is awesome. The display is easy to read, and it mounts well. Being able to use battery or plug in power makes it versatile
David Horwath Jr.
This product is great. We bought the original and have never had an issue with it. We love it and appreciate the peace of mind. This one is even better. We love the display and install flexibility. If you need a gas, propane, etc. we highly recommend.

I was using GasKnight 1.0 for last few years and then was informed of version 2.0 .
Product looks smart and almost mimics other home automation products.
Extra cord allows proper location for natural gas detection in the kitchen. Per manufacturer it needs to be 3 feet below ceiling for natural gas. In case of alarm, it does show % detected which is a big improvement over ver 1.0.
Silence button is on the unit that is high up in the ceiling. I wonder how am I going to silence 85 db sound. I would guess pulling the plug is away to go or not allow gas to leak is first best option.
Display is bit dim and shows all 7 segments of the display slightly lit. In dark its Ok but with kitchen lights on, its bit difficult to figure out.
Overall its a good improvement and easy yo set up deserving 5 star review.
Gui Berg
I hope to never hear this going off. But it seems to be working as it should.

This is my second GasKnight I am proud to say. The first one replaced a Kidde that gave me more false alarms than I cared for, so the electrical outlet and mounting screws were already in place. This second generation Gas Knight makes the first time installation, even easier. I knew the area I needed to serve, around the natural gas shop heater . I lugged the AC adapter into a handy outlet so it is paired with the charger on my wheelchair. I ran the cable up the wall to maximum height and stuck it with the double sticky pad provided. I used all the cable and that resulted in a perfect location according to the easy to follow instructions. No tools and very little time required to make a professional looking job.. I trust my life (and my dog's too) to this gas protector because I have Parkinson's. It has destroyed my sense of smell. ( If skunks were lethal I'd need a skunk detector too.) Most all of us lose some of our sense of smell as we age, but the decline is so gradual that we rarely notice, until one day when you are put to the test. I knew I was in trouble, but I recommend to everyone this inexpensive addition to safety, just to get the added margin. The GasKnight looks so attractive, I point it out to friends. I hope my friends will follow my example. Friends are worth protecting too.

Works great. Just what I needed!

Great product!

This gas detector is great! I have always hated the ugly devices that would ruin good decor. You couldn't remove it because it is necessary but it was always an eyesore.
This device is different! It looks good with my decor (and I would imagine, just about any decor) and it is easy to install. Great product!!
